Hmmm. I see the new body has proportions similar to Al’s current body. I figured they would probably make it smaller, but… the sizes seem to match up from this shot. The hands, too.
It was something that I’d had in my head for a while, I suppose an AI would be capable of handling a full body change, but a human mind would probably not withstand the shock of such a severe change so easily. And since Al’s mind is a copy of her human brain…
I cannot tell whether you’re typing “ai” or “AL”. The recurrent ambiguity may be symbolism/creativity on Blue’s part, but it still seems like some typographic misfortune
This made me go back and look at the first couple of pages.
On page 10 of chapter 1, Al is disappointed that everything is “reassuringly familiar.” At the time I thought Al was just checking everything over, but the context is absolutely different now, and given the circumstance, we finally can begin to understand what those mixed emotions mean.
Aaaahhhh holy shit I remember her but i didn’t remember her face was tHE FIRST PANELS OF THE FIRST PAGE, THE FIRST FACE WE SEE… this really was her story all along… ;____;
That really makes sense and pulls on heartstrings. Sulla is her own person, but gets Al in a way most never can. Truly a loving mother-child+twin bond going on.
Wow! Okay, just seeing a tiny bit, there are so many details here of her future body. Definitely illustrated by someone who had to have done a lot of nude studies. That is a muscular older woman’s hip—with the skin folds where they would be in many older ladies’ abs. I love how her fingers are thick like they were on her soon-to-be-previous body, but her hands are softened and more petite. The hair is wild and long. I wonder how will wear it? This little snippet totally looks like Al. I can’t wait to see what her face will be!
I so dig that the body seems to look like Al’s human body would have if she’d gone through HRT and maybe some surgery. She could have made it look like literally anything, but she went with “the ‘female’ version of what I already have,” and that makes me *so happy.*
IDK. I think her body looks cis (though I have seen some pretty femme ladies who transitioned later in life)—not that it matters either way. Al is Al and she is she. We know she will be both gorgeous and powerful (inside and out). I’ve been blessed to know a few incredible older women who were like that, and hope I will become one in a few years and can pay it forward to some younger folks.
Me too??? Like it’s so powerful. Al has come so far from when she told Sulla that she “passes” and to “be smart”. She could have been shorter, slimmer, younger, anything she wanted, but to me it would have felt like a slap in the face if she had. She just wants to be herself and I’m crying.
Blue, seeing her makes me so emotional, I guessed when I first was introduced to the comic in 2014 that Al wanted to look like the Blue Fairy (even the Pinocchio reference, god) with the same nose Al has and felt like that was me being too optimistic. I can’t begin to tell you what an incredible and novelistic work this is, I’m so thrilled for the people who get to read it all at once and catch all the continuity detail work and symbolism you’ve put into this project over the past 8 years.
Seeing the knife handle reflecting the red, the blue, and the green, all the point-of-view colors together… everything comes down to this. Something about this knife is whole. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
I burst into tears.

… Her human brain. Sorry. Missed the edit window.

Oh man the subtle coloring on that knife. Blue and red mixed together, the present and the past colliding.
Oh wow, good catch, I didn’t see that at first!
There’s even some green mixed in for the future! Those tiny little details that Blue includes are so amazing.
CHECK OUT HOW HARD I CAN CRY
We already know what she looks like, more or less.
The poster’s been around since the beginning of the comic. Literally, page one.

I’m excited to see her shine.
Oh my god, that’s amazing. Everything links back.
Oh damn, good catch! That’s one hell of a callback :D
This made me go back and look at the first couple of pages.

Al is *disappointed* that everything is the same.
Aaaahhhh holy shit I remember her but i didn’t remember her face was tHE FIRST PANELS OF THE FIRST PAGE, THE FIRST FACE WE SEE… this really was her story all along… ;____;
Those first three panels, of her literally coming from shadow into light? That’s been Al’s story, 100%. Oh, damn, now I’m all weepy.
I’ve been wondering if that was what Al was going to look like. Looks like it is!
Wait…
I think that’s the Blue Fairy.
That would fit so well…
I love that the new body looks to be just (or nearly) as stronk as the current one.
Al picked the same anchoring object as Sulla did. Something to provide continuity and comfort on the other side.
I was thinking maybe Sulla put it there before she left, since Al looks surprised.
Oh, this is a stronger interpretation. Thanks for pointing it out!
That really makes sense and pulls on heartstrings. Sulla is her own person, but gets Al in a way most never can. Truly a loving mother-child+twin bond going on.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa this is so wonderful ;_;

I’m wondering if the reason for Al’s hair tie this chapter is so she can wear her hair up. It definitely looks like theres a lot of it.
Oooo… I had thought she was just doing Sulla’s hair, but that would be so cool!
This is really interesting!

just read it all over again right from the very first page and CRYING
