Actually, it’s a wonderful thing to be tethered to somebody you love and respect. It’s called a family.

imo, I would be absolutely pleased if my mother told me I deserved a live not tethered to hers. (I’m assuming that’s what you’re referring to!)

what Al means is that Sulla shouldn’t have to live her live as if she’s bound in some way to Al. obviously they have a family relationship, but that doesn’t mean that she has to be responsible for his wellbeing or anything. I hope that makes sense?

I just hope Brendan emphasizes that Al is not being a burden on Brendan and Sulla, because I think Al needs to hear it.

Also, thanks for the opportunity to ogle Brendan’s back, haha

I don’t get the sense he wants to leave. More that he doesn’t want his past trauma to be projected upon Sulla. He had been on his own before he died with the emotional walls he built—including being in the closet (both as gay but also as trans). Choosing to embrace the little family he has (and deserves) versus disappearing would be more logical and kind to Sulla. Now whether that is with Brendan as an ex who has become a dear close friend or as a love, who knows. I very well could be wrong about Al staying as well. Love this story so far either way and believe whatever the future holds for our characters will be positive. I am going to miss it so much when it concludes.
