I was expecting to feel some second-hand embarrassment for Al, but now I’m worried.
kldskqlmskdmlkflsdkfmldkflmsdkflmdkf i am slain
Oh… Wow… Even though we get a glimpse into his head, it’s still very difficult to gather what is going on. Are these memories too much? Is he being triggered from beyond these memories? Is this going too fast? Or is this his brain having trouble separating the past from the present, and he’s flashing in between the two? Could this be a physical problem or something deeper and emotional? Or is it both?
So many possibilities…I can see tragedy coming from many directions yet hope for a happy ending. I’d probably be okay whatever direction it goes, though. The story is just too good….
His brain just threw in a corrupted memory of his last conscious moment with his flesh and blood body during this Brendan appreciation compilation. I would find that upsetting too
LOL! “Brendan Appreciation Compilation” – I think I need that on my Youtube comfort list…
Wasn’t the brain recording that was his basis made before that happened, though? Or am I misremembering?
After. Brendan made the copy in the hospital after Al collapsed.
Or at least, the corrupted copy that Sulla was made from was made in the hospital after Al collapsed. Who knows what *this* Al is actually made from.
Given that this version includes the memory of Brendan creating the Sulla copy, it could have been:
* created from the Sulla copy by someone who could retrieve the corrupted data,
* an earlier copy that was updated with those memories, or
* a copy created during the time between Al’s brain went too dead for Brendan to retrieve, and when he actually died.
Given those three options, I’d say “made from the same brain scan as Sulla” seems the most likely.

Oooh… Good catch!
Blue is just ratcheting up the tension on us. Hopefully next week bring some relief!
Noooooooo! Al! Don’t freak out! LITERALLY hang on to Brendan and what’s happening now; let all your memory circuits run their course! *bites nails in anxious anticipation*
Oh dear. Are we having a situation where saying “The memory literally shortcuited him” would actually be an appropriate use of the word “literally”?
Looks like someone is de-rezzing
Al is not a human anymore, he is a robot with the mind of a man, with the ability to leave his fingerprints in the metal of Brendan’s car door when he became emotional. When he is having a strong reaction due to some past night terror or traumatic memory is NOT the time to be embracing him. If he pushes Brendan away (literally) he could very easily kill the man by either blunt force or when Brendan struck the wall or furniture behind him.
I always get the same cringe factor when some fictional superstrong character like superman or supergirl is hugging a normal strength human.
mmm this is some real flashback shit right here makin my ptsd ass FEEL THINGS! RELATABLE THINGS!!
Whoa! You died and came back to life as a robot only to find your sweetheart was raising another version of you who didn’t have your memories and turned into a teenage girl?
Sorry, had to go there. XD
It is very powerful, though, and triggery—especially to those of us who have recovered retained/repressed memories.
Blue: You have got me SO hooked on the comic! While I mourn that OHS will someday cease, I look forward to the remaining updates and to see how you move the story arc, and what conclusions you come up with.
ah, jeez. Al’s stuck in a body that can’t eat spicy food AND it still has panic attacks? The singularity is bullshit :/
Here’s a question… What happened to Al’s remains after he passed away? Did anyone have access to them beyond Brendan? Thanks to the sleuthing from fellow fans above, it’s clear he was created from the same recording Sulla was or from one that was made later. What’s the likelihood recording memories or thoughts from a deceased brain? It seems unlikely (even in this universe), but it is interesting… But right now it looks more and more likely Sulla could have been involved in this.
Did Brendan and Al ever do partial scans of themselves at earlier times for their work? Could Sulla have combined previous scans, with a copy/paste of her own memories at the point of her “birth” to create the basis for a more accurate Al, in order to make a mentor for herself and a new colleague/friend/boyfriend for Brendan? I feel like I need to reread the whole thing…
Al donated his body to science as implied here https://ohumanstar.com/comic/chapter-6-page-7/
It could be anyone who knew about this and had enough criminal energy or authority to get to him
I still suspect that, somehow, it’s an AI version of Brendan that made this Al.
Oh wow! That’s a great theory!
I didn’t even think of that. :D
I’ve also been wondering if there’s an AI Brendan running around. Someone knew where that multitool was, and Brendan had put it away for Sulla.
Dammit, how did I not notice until JUST NOW that you were going to be in Atlanta today?
TBF, I didn’t even get out of bed until 7:00 PM, so
I wonder if AL’s memories are giving him trauma.
I mean- I think he has the memories of the original AL dying, which made the original AL lose Brendan.
Maybe this AL is remembering that event, and thinking- Is everything going to be OK?…Or will I pass on, and lose Brendan, AGAIN?
(Sorry about the down-sounding comment today, folks.)
