I was thinking that, and I would've enjoyed that, and also I actually kind of like that he *doesn't.* Brendan's grown and changed a lot as a person while Al's been gone, and he doesn't need that challenge anymore. I would've enjoyed the callback, but this way is a great character note for Brendan, too.
