She fled after accidentally giving away a big secret about who she is, and the argument could be made that she was acting in ways that seemed erratic anyway around her new friends (e.g. the soup incident). That said, it’s entirely possible I would never have thought of this without the comments on Page 1 of this chapter, several of which thought she was in danger of self-harm here.

Because she was outed as a inorganic sentient being, and she left very abruptly in tears. Everyone is probably making hasty choices while on an adrenaline kick as well. It is good they are airing with the side of being over-bearing versus doing too little.
