OK, but can we talk about how insistent Al is on finding a role for himself? How easily he accepts he’s supposed to be doing something for someone, even though he has no idea what or who? I think that speaks to how hard he’s always tried to fit in…

I’m still thinking Gimel was involved, somehow, although Sulla might make a lot more sense. So if Sulla built her father, does that make her her own grandmother?

In reply to Eli. I've learned nothing is predictable in this comic, but when something is revealed it makes complete sense. That is part of why I love it...along with the beautiful art, complex characters and funny moments.

In reply to Owlmirror. Perhaps, though I think that for her, she probably just doesn't think Al ought to be beholden to whoever created him. Al can, and should, be the master of his own destiny. And besides, Al is family to Sulla. She doesn't want to lose him so quickly.

Sulla’s question could be answered by pointing out that Al might have been created to hurt Brendan in some way.

I don’t think that’s true, but it’s a possibility that Al might have thought of.

Sulla might be naive, or she might be too aware of how Al was actually created to think of possibilities that are colder and more manipulative.
