I’ve learned nothing is predictable in this comic, but when something is revealed it makes complete sense. That is part of why I love it…along with the beautiful art, complex characters and funny moments.

Perhaps, though I think that for her, she probably just doesn’t think Al ought to be beholden to whoever created him. Al can, and should, be the master of his own destiny. And besides, Al is family to Sulla. She doesn’t want to lose him so quickly.

I don’t think that’s true, but it’s a possibility that Al might have thought of.

Sulla might be naive, or she might be too aware of how Al was actually created to think of possibilities that are colder and more manipulative.
