It’s not his fault he was brought back after dying. That would fuck with anyone’s head if it happened to them. Humans aren’t really supposed to get back to being alive after dying, and since he had some stuff going on before he passed, of course that’s going to pour into the present.

His past-related issues are kinda his fault, but the fact he was brought back to life without permission, was forced back into the world and has to deal with his problems AGAIN is not his fault at all.

Can’t you, though? Is he not Hitler for all intents and purposes? If Hitler remains Hitler when his consciousness is discontinuous due to sleeping, is it truly any different when the discontinuity is due to a copy of his mind being later put into a new body? Does it really philosophically matter that he happened to be dead in the middle?

Of course, it’d be a different story if the copy were imperfect, but then blame would fall on the copiers anyway.

rereading all in one go today has me wondering if other synthetics had a bigger hand in Al’s resurrection than I originally thought. given the synth reaction to him on the street…. and the way Tsade developed on his own… hmmmmm

He’s not wandering the woods after a blowup fight because his mind map is shonky or his body isn’t right, it’s because Al, the dude, is a bit of a screwed-up human being who’s acting out and not dealing with his issues well.
So, yeah, The bedside manner ain’t great, but the doctor speaks some truth.

And the ballerina…oh…are they the representative of a different faction?

Yes, they are acting like stereotypical cold machines.

Besides the infallibility of AI is, pardon the digression, BS. Now we know AI can be as biased as humans, maybe more given it lacks empathy or common sense.

These ones I expected to be better or more understanding, doing Al’s revival out of pity or thankfulness to the pioneer who allowed their existence. Seems I was wrong, and as if Al has to get out of there ASAP.

Blame the victim. :(

Spoiler –

I have a feeling Sulla will be dropping in and rescuing Al very quickly—or getting harmed in the process of attempting to.

That may actually be what they are trying to achieve here. Are these guys actual imprints like Al or are they emergents like Tsade? Are they “aping” irrational (or spontaneous) behaviour or actually capable of it? A study of Al – and Sulla – might show them how an imprint can evolve differently and give them a leap past “fixed” behavior.
