very much agreed! i’ve been running a genre-hopping RPG with some philosophy buddies for nearly 3 years now. over the summer one of them had the opportunity to play a far-future android version of his real-life persona. it was wonderfully bizarre, and gave us lots of room to think about the nature of identity. this was compounded later when another player’s character was suffering from a psychic wound and his consciousness had to be uploaded to the bio-memory storage of the space station before his physical body died. in other words, for a couple hours in the game his body was the space station.

Who is the funny ‘stick man”/giraff?
When was their “last encounter”?
What’s the ballerina have to do with any of this?

I’m always so impressed at how well all the pieces of OHS fit together and how excellent the pacing is given that the story has been released in small pieces over many years. I keep thinking about how if I had a comic with an AMAZING CLIMAX that I couldn’t wait to get to, I would spent two weeks not sleeping and frantically drawing 150 pages in an attempt to get there ASAP and then totally failing to do it justice out of staggering impatience. Haha!
