Page 12. Watch your step.
Apologies for the late page! I had a flareup of a chronic eye issue that made it difficult to look at bright lights or screens, but it’s finally on the way out.
Just in time, too, because I’m going to be at XOXO in Portland this weekend with my co-writer on Meal, Soleil Ho! We’ll be talking about the origin story of Meal and our collaboration on Saturday night, so join us if you’re attending!
“Well, wasn’t expecting to catch up with you all the way out here,” says Al, to a duck
Ducks are clearly Not To Be Trusted!
I thought ducks in places where it snows migrate away because the water in the rivers and lakes freezes over? Or is that why he wasn’t expecting to see ducks?
Plenty of ducks can be found in the upper Midwest in winter, often because they’ve migrated from even further north. They usually do okay as long as it’s not super cold – and as far as Minnesota is concerned, if it’s snowing it’s not super cold.
Ducks are also able to take off vertically, so frozen bodies of water are less of an issue for them.
Yes, I’ve seen ducks take off from a standing start on a grassy hill. I was more concerned about food sources for the ducks…. less herbs and invertebrates to eat. Evidently life has found a way.
They’d be happier to see Al if he had any grapes.
XD
Maybe hes talking to the Ballerina? Maybe shes feeding the ducks and waiting for him?
I’m wondering the same.
Tuba is feeding the ducks and waiting for him. :O
Maybe this is the sinister duck from Strong Female Protagonist, secretly in control of the world
Well, he’s looking towards the sky in the 3rd panel, and slughtly up in the forth, so I’m giessing Sulla found him…?

Quack, quack quack. qvack.
I’m sure we can all agree that those little hidey spots you have to go through a hole in a fence to get to are the best hidey spots.
Goddamn it I just started binge reading this today and why, oh WHY did I have to finally catch up on a cliffhanger like this?!?!
