Oh gosh! I never thought of that! :)
IMO- I can see why she might want to “bring him to life”, so that she + Bren can spend time with him.
Also- since Bren probably talks about Al a lot, she might have wanted to create an A.I. [Alistair?] to see what Al was like.

In the 1960s TV show, I Dream of Jeannie, they bring the Hawaiian king, King Kamehameha, into modern times.

And this show asks- if you bring a person [back from the past], would he fit into modern society[?]…and would his [being put in modern times], change [him, or her, or them], in some very, unexpected ways? Hm.
