Because you could argue that a robot is already sentient as it has an AI. For example, all animals are considered to be sentient, but Tsade wants to be recognized as equal to other people not animals. People’s sapience (i.e: their ability to reason) is what is said to separate us from animals.
This is a little nitpicky, but it’s an important distinction!

I am not clear on this; does Lucy know of Sulla’s existence yet at this point? It doesn’t seem like it. If not, judging by how she is reacting to Tsade’s departure, I’m thinking Brendan will be able to tell her soon–and the conversation should go a lot more smoothly than I initially suspected.
