Page 58. Him.
A huge thanks to those of you who backed the Bear Company Kickstarter and made it past goal! I’m pretty proud of my comic for that lil’ antho and I hope you enjoy it, too.
Oh, and if you live near Dubuque, IA, stop by the Carnegie-Stout Public Library on Saturday the 27th! I’ll be doing a talk and a signing, so come say hi!
Oooooof
I spy Janelle Monae!
Oooh, yeah!
Given the themes of the Metropolis Suite, interestingly appropriate. :-}
I thought so! I love that Monae has served as inspiration for both the characters and the author (if I recall correctly).
Oh man. That piece of dialogue reads A LOT like the Brendan is talking about another parent that passed away. And it just struck me that, in a way, Sulla is the child of both Brendan and Al. ;-;
Congratulations @ me. You hurt yourself.
Also Sulla looks so much like Al. That’s gotta hurt.
oh thank goodness, “parents walk in on young trans girl’s room” is a scary trope
anyway love all the nice details in this, like the bunny plush and the janelle monae poster! i also like how she sits with her legs curled up – another sign she’s autistic? that’s always been my headcanon
I think she only unlocked her door when she was ready?
Sulla: Hey, dad, the wifi is great.
Brendan: *stares* Al!? Oh! It’s just you *stares*
Sulla: ….Soooooo, anyway, I’ve been busy.
Ways of inadvertently exacerbating gender dysphoria, Figure I.
Aha this doesn’t hit me right in my feelings no you shut up. Each page feels like it’s creeping closer and closer towards Sulla coming out and I love it!
I like the pacing in this montage, it’s a good steady touch and go.
Also, if I parsed that correctly, Sulla just admitted to keeping a dream journal. Interesting.
GEE I WONDER WHAT’S IN THAT TEXT FILE
I bet I know~
The bunny on the bed first panel and the sophisticated nerd speech at the last – what an interesting personality!
Janelle Monae on the wall :D
Interesting way to sit in the chair. Between that, Al’s preferring machines over people, Al’s little stims (pinching his shirt), and both of them being socially awkward in general, I’m wondering if both Sulla and Al have autism? I know some people read Sulla that way, but I think it applies to Al too.
Poor girl… already has a lot to live up to.
