I thought this was less about we all thought she was going to talk about gender with Brendan and more about this was an easier topic to breach. Sure, Sulla’s interested in both but even pre-transition you still feel the need to prove that you’re the same person and not defined by your gender or transness. This is more of a “she’s still her” even though Brendan doesn’t know yet that she is a her
