This chapter is almost done! And then that will be it for the material going into O Human Star Volume 2.
Speaking of which, the OHS Kickstarter is less than $5,000 from reaching its goal, and less than $8,000 from its first stretch goal! I’ve just added a new tier, ANDROID 2.0, because more folks were looking to get the extra rewards in addition to aVolume 2 hardcover. So now you can, at a $125 level!
We’re almost there, everyone! Let’s make these books happen!
I’ve been reading for about a year, and watching the story unspool itself in real time has been a wonder. In spite of how gradual the incrementation is, the comic’s cohesion in terms of both story and art is phenomenal, and the pacing never falters or gets erratic. There’s a consistent sense that the important pieces were all thought out and assembled well ahead of time, and now only need to be uncovered. There’s no meandering, confusion, gratuitous digression, or shaky footing – just a tight, well-drawn, emotionally resonant storyline that has been very routinely blowing my mind. I’ve gotten kind of fixated on OHS and hopefully that’s not creepy, but I think on some level it qualifies as a compliment. I’m a visual learner, so the fact that my imagination has actual voices for these characters is rare and telling. I can’t decide whether I’m more looking forward to seeing the climax/resolution or more disappointed at the thought of it ending, but either way I’d rather see it self-contained than continuing indefinitely and someday jumping the shark.
I wonder what it could say if it had any sort of verbal output. It’s eerie. How much of him is in there? How much consciousness does it have? Is it a bit like an infant, working off procedural memory alone? How else could it grow up with its own distinct personality?
I think she does have verbal output. It doesn’t seem like the kind of thing that would be too complex to rig up as you just need a speaker unit. Brandon was asking so many questions, but I think she is probably still learning to speak (plus she doesn’t remember him). Babies learn a lot of complex movements and develop an understanding of language before being able to use their voices to talk. Perhaps the same thing is happening here.
I have no mouth and I must sass back.
I’m guessing she didn’t file down the edges to make it more baby proof, but I’m gonna run with that assumption anyways :D
I love that we all have just decided this is tiny baby Sulla, as if we are looking at an infant fleshy human child. I love it.
When brandon picked up the knife my first thought was ‘holy shit he’s gonna stab her’
YOU LEFT THE BABY ALONE WITHOUT A SITTER!?
Aww, Sulla baby pics!
