Okay, now I’m getting the creeped-out feeling that other readers were talking about on recent pages. But the fascination is totally irresistible. Awesome!
Man… I think it is a good thing Al truly wasn’t reanimated until 16 years later. It seems like it’d cause serious trauma to be reanimated in a metal body like that after you spent a lifetime as an organic person.
There’s no telling how traumatic it would be for someone to wake up, not knowing where or even when they are, with possible sensory deprivation.
I get that Brendan wanted Al back, to undo what his last words to him were, to hold him again, to just ignore all the bad that Al had caused because at least having him alive and doing those things is better than not having him at all, but this is a line that is very scary to cross (nevermind the fact that in the future a cousin to this type of science exists mostly fine).
Still though, it’s a bizarre twist of horrifying, saddening, and a little romantic.
I have to admit, I am pretty weirded out by Brendan here, and have been for the last few pages. When he got to the ICU, he didn’t say anything to Al, didn’t even take a moment, just plugged him in downloaded. I get that he was pressed for time, but I can’t figure out, even now, if he’s more interested in getting Al back, or having his brain around….
Well, wasn’t it implied (or I think Al directly asked) that Brendan didn’t necessarily want Al back, but an improved, maybe less homophobic version of Al? It’ll be interesting to see how far this is explored.
Wow, I don’t even know how I’d react if I were Brendan and Al answered back from that hunk of metal. The shock of that, especially so soon after his “death,” would maybe be too much for me.

Very insightful, a perspective I hadn’t considered and one that is worth thinking about whether it is the case or not.

Al, v.0.01. Oy vey.
Oh man, if Brendan only knew what he had truly created. In just a short span, he lost one person and gained a whole new one. Absolutely extraordinary!
I can’t believe we are here now!!!!
That look on Brendan’s face in panel 6.
Brenden noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I’m having flash backs to the game SOMA X_X
oh my god, yes.
[Al]eph, does this come up elsewhere?
That hope on his face in the bottom panel is so saddening…
