Ah… This used to be my husband’s and my arguing style. I always had to get the last word in (thanks for the habit, Mom), and he’s a volcano—not violent, but when he gets mad and feels cornered…BOOM. Scary.

We haven’t been anywhere near that bad in a about a decade or more, and I’m so thankful for it. We found using “safety words” (like people do for BDSM) helped prevent this from happening and taught us to be more aware of what came out of our mouths when we were feeling tense.

Sadly, we know these two probably aren’t going to resolve things in this “lifetime.” Hopefully they sort it out in the future.

I still find myself siding with Al in this argument
Brendan is such a little jerk with the way he talks sometimes!! :(
But they’re both being disrespectful here. This can’t end well.

They’re both being so hurtful. But still, as rigid as Brendan is being, Al’s lack of honesty (in public and with Brendan) is what’s leading Brendan to feel so alone.

More like Al can’t cope with the parts of themself that cause so much pain – parts that they believe can never be embraced happily – and anything that threatens to destabilize the intense walls they rely upon to stay alive becomes an existential threat.

The same day this page was put up my girlfriend and me broke up. Synchronised endings. This really, REALLY puts my breakup into perspective, though. However painful, at least there was no shouting irreversibly hurting things at one another!!!
