The pronouns in that second box are subtly killing me…
It’s lovely to see Brendan and Al bonding over SCIENCE like they did long ago, but you can really feel that for Sulla this is something a bit more emotional and not just about scientific research, you can see how she feels a little pushed aside until she says she wants to talk to Al alone. I really really really cannot wait to see what she tells him and how he’s going to react. This chapter started with a slow pacing but now each page is a cliffhanger!
That look of surprise on Branden’s face ! Wow !
“No offense dad; but i want to talk about this with dad”.
Also that’s why they Need to sleep, eh? Since Al was questioning this (“Why do we need to sleep/eat/¿crap??”).
Brendan’s faces tho
OMG! Such a real parenting moment! XD
I’ve totally made the face of Brandan in the sixth and last panel (as has my husband) when our daughter choses one of us over the other.
Not YOU, dad, I want my OTHER dad
blue, you tricked me.
l.m.a.o.
but that’s fine, i’ll continue going along for the ride
Oh she blushed!
She knows!
Well this wasn’t the reaction I was expecting. I do like Brandon’s ‘synthetic people’ as opposed to Al’s ‘robot’ statements. Subtle but effective.
Hmmm… Al’s reaction is interesting.
Brendan is so smart, yet so clueless. He’s talking to Al like he’s a human, and about Sulla like she’s not, all in one breath. Even Al says “their brains” not “our brains”.
The cleverness and subtlety of this comic is astounding! :)
that was a good catch there, wa11 — al perhaps has yet to come to terms with the reality that he, too, is a synthetic.
heck.
i’m just happy to be able to now begin distinguishing the varying kinds of speech bubbles/voces blue uses (such as the, uh, “wavy” vox brendan spoke in, three times)
Uh, Sulla, poor kid. Brendan sure tries, but that had to hurt.
I just wanted to say that this comic is a work of absolute beauty. I’ve read it thrice over in three days (to a soundtrack of Janelle Monae, coincidentally, which fits so well song-for-song that it gave me palpitations) and I not only admire the creativity and the subtlety of the creator– which took my breath away with every passing page– but also the fortitude of the long-time readers. How do you even cope? I appreciate how much hard work creating a comic is (I live with an illustrator), which makes me feel a little guilty in wanting to see how the relationships develop and how some of the mysteries are solved and /everything/ just.. right now. Sorry. :T I suppose the exquisite suspense of waiting for updates does it for some…? Anyway, thank you, Blue. Thank you so much. Here’s to much more! [clinks glass of syntea]
This comic is so amazingly good I have been following it since the beginning of chapter 2
And it has only gotten better and better.
Go Blue :3
