Page 71 (And 250th page of OHS overall!) So that’s where that thing went.
Apologies for the late update, combination of SPX and stomach bug. Next update will go up Monday night after I return from Topatocon in Easthampton, MA!

Poor Al. All this sudden attention must be stressful, but I think I understand Lee’s excitement over actually seeing for himself what these people in this old garage have been up to. Its like finding out that the ragtag team of nerds (like from the Big Hero 6 movie) are actually super heroes.
Lee looks like he’s been eagerly waiting to talk to another white guy about warfare. Of course.
Gotta love how done with him Deanne looks.
Lee’s not white
Word of God: There are many ways you can have the last name “Lee” and be/be read as white.
As a sinophone Taiwanese, it really took me a while to wrap my head around the idea that many anglophone people have Lee as their last name (or first name) and have no Chinese heritage whatsoever. :p
As a Taiwanese American, I think it is very cool that this comic is reaching a sinophone Taiwanese audience :) And growing up in the U.S., I often projected an Asian identity onto characters with the name Lee. Part of that whole representation thing.
I just realized it’s probably because I’ve lived in a French-speaking country all of my life and we spell the Chinese surname differently in French (Li), “Lee” being specifically an anglophone spelling… so “Lee” reads as “US/UK” to me. xD Even though of course I still think of Bruce Lee first…
whoa. I thought he was Asian this whole time
It would probably have been difficult for Robert E. Lee to be a Confederate general if he hadn’t been white.
Are you kidding? Lee’s pretty clearly the epitome of (straight, cis) middle-aged white dude.
To clarify, “Lee” can be the anglicized version of a Chinese and Korean surname, but I’m guessing Halftrack up there has the Lee that’s derived from an Old English word for “meadow”. Easy to get confused!
Because cis, straight, white males are kind of the unlikable villains in this portion of the story.
Everyone’s exchanges of side-glances in the bottom left panel bring me life.
ut oh
:-).
the Close-Up of Doom.
how i’ve missed thee.
(tch.
{´seems we won’t be crossing paths with Deanne, on this particular day..})
ominous tone is ominous
I have no idea how this is going to end, but it’s probably not going to end well…
Oopsie. I think that Colonel Lee wants to make a 22 ft. tall, war robot, with a human-like brain. I think that Brendan [sp?] + Al’s other guests, don’t like that idea very much. Oops.
That or they’re just surprised that this guy who unintentionally gave them all trouble during their first meeting is now acting like a surprised little kid who just found out that toy stores exist.
Cool. I hadn’t thought of that. : )
I love how cis, white males are now the unintentional/ intentional villains of most stories these days. Its not an evil robot with no personality, rather its a human with such an unlikable personality that its hard to believe that he was written to be anything that resembles an actual human. Normally this would be considered a cliched pitfall, but in a world that is 50% robot, it makes sense that the ‘default setting’ of the human race is chosen to be the group that is less of a human than a robot is.
1: Who hides a robot by wrapping it up like a little baby?
2: Who just throws a mechanical bit at said wrapped up baby like that?
It was almost like he meant to do that o.o
More than likely, Brendan’s used to tossing parts onto that particular table, and just
failed to remember that it was veiled for the occasion. Also, the chassis doesn’t seem
to be assembled into its full stature, so it’s not quite as conspicuous as you think. :P
Hi! I just found and read your webcomic. I think that it’s amazing that there can be such great webcomics on the internet still to find! :)
so, uh..
..what happened to your “workblue,” blue?
i can’t seem to find ´er now?
That seemed totally deliberate on Brendan’s part. He’s so shrewd, hehe
Looking back, just wanted add that Al’s deer-caught-in-a-headlight expression and the “I.” is a wonderful parallel to Sulla’s reaction back when Titus asked her “Are you a robotics person?”
And there it is.
