Given what Blue has already said, I bet it’s not. Some problems that *appear* simple can take ages to figure out. Doesn’t surprise me that they figured out taste receptors, but not how to allow the robots to eat non-robot food. Also, keep in mind Sulla is supposed to be one of the “most advanced” synthetic people (Al may even be more evolved) so it’s likely her digestive system hasn’t been fully “evolved” with her outside appearance and human personality. I would not be surprised if Al and Brenden take this as a challenge to see if they can “upgrade” a few things together—both for Sulla’s and Al’s sake.

The synthetic person appeared to be trying to avoid giving her food, but the human pushed it out of the way and served Sulla. She is eating real broth.

Asimov’s humanoid robot R. Danell Olivaw just ate whatever was being served, then went into the john, opened his chest, and dumped the food into the toilet. I think Sulla can actually digest some of it, and probably burns the rest for fuel. Perhaps she’ll have to crap a charcoal briquette in a day or so. But there is no way her excellent body isn’t prepared for a small bowl of broth and tofu.

I would say that maybe it is the owner, but it seemed a bit slow on the uptake. We don’t really know much about the bots yet except that you need a copy of a human mind to jumpstart their mentation. Do they remember? Are they ghosts of the dead, or echoes of the living? How many of them are made out of that missing copy of Al?

I see two competing trains of thought running in her head right now:
1. “Damn, this is tasty. I really should eat more actual food and damn the consequences.”
2. “Mitochondria are powerhouses contained within cells, and I can almost think of a way to solve one of my tech problems by duplicating or emulating that.”

I’ve read this comic, stared at its panels, breathed very heavily, gotten wet eyes, read through it again, kept breathing and come back daily to breathe more.

Your teacher and your jerkbutt friends are why I made an account and commented. Bra-vo. :P
