Well, think what Brendan does and it’s GOT to be memory data. The person on the line sounds suspiciously robotic to me.
I’m thinking there’s an outside chance this phone voice is some version of Al as an AI, with nothing but his tech skills and not much personality. I’m thinking that the phone voice is an AI of some kind anyway, and that ALL of the AIs know Al is back and why.

I just found this comic and I’ve already read through it 3 times
I noticed that there’s hardly a scene that has both Brendan and Al where they’re not looking at or talking to each other. In fact, I can only name two, at the party and during the drive to Sterling, and even then they just interact less. Also, if they are apart they’re usually thinking about each other. It’s this really subtle, interesting touch that lets you know how important they are to each other.

That said, it’s really the details that make this webcomic just that one step above completely fantastic and makes me a huge fan

Can’t wait for the next update!

Maybe. Or it could be the mystery person has guessed by what Brendan has said what was stolen and so is simply stating the facts clearly. Keep in mind Brendan’s circle of associates are all rather intelligent and talented people.

Also…has anyone else got the feeling the reason why mystery person is blanked out is because mystery person was a former romantic interest? So it stands to reason this person may know quite alot about Brendan.

Brendan’s friend on the phone, whomever he or she is, might:

know that someone has stolen Brendan’s memories, but this “friend” might be hinting that the friend, or [the friend + the friend’s company], are not the ones…[who stole or copied Brendan’s memories].
