Ah, Lucille knows whats up xD I wonder actually what other favor she was refering to…MAYBE she helped Brendan change Sullla, maybe even create Sulla or something like that. Its kinda obvious at this point that she has no idea that Al is back and that her and Brendan were just friends >;D
I was under the impression that Al and Brendans sexuality was a secret, but I guess I was wrong. About Brendan anyways.
Just makes me like this whole story more though. As well as Brendan. This gives me a new possibility what the pre-death fight was about. That brings to total up to…two.
Somebody will ALWAYS care, Scrod. No matter what time period it is.
And I never saw any indication that Brendan was out until now. But then again, I always assume that people are closeted until I know otherwise. Who people tell isn’t my business after all.
I had to go back and look – page 57. Brendan, like the honey badger, don’t care. Brendan has HUGE self-confidence. He strikes me as a prodigy, protected by his family and admired at school, who learned early to make his own rules. When he has stage fright or designer’s block, it is completely honest and forthright. No one was allowed to crush him when he was a child because of his enormous talent.
That’s cool if you never need to grow a thick skin. I’m not even gay and I have a double layer of rhino hide between me and ‘them.’ Brendan probably employs a guy with thick skin, or a robot with a Mona Lisa smile, to brush people off or tell them to go jump. Al, though. Al is nearly terrified. Being outed would be a disaster for him. I expect we will learn why one day . . .
Like… like the honey badger? Did you just really use that?
That’s the best simile I’ve heard in a long, long time. Mind if I borrow it for use in regular conversation ;P haha
man, that’s a-whole-nother part of this story which isn’t yet known: barring, obviously, if lucy and bren-bren are Good Friends, just when did she “find out”?
OMG. I think the missing pieces of Al might have been in Brendan’s head. Combine the partial upload of dying Al with a very careful scan of Brendan dreaming about lost days and you might have the whole thing again. And Brendan doesn’t know about it, and didn’t know the multi-tool had been moved.
This has got to have elements of horror movie for Brendan. IS this actually a good copy of Al? Has it been tweaked in some subtle way? Is it actively trying to emulate Al, or is it exactly what it seems to be? He’s afraid to commit until he knows. “There’s only one way to hurt a man who’s lost everything; give him back something broken.”
I think he knew it was a true copy when it said “Are you just going to stand there,” but he can’t let himself believe it yet. And we don’t know for sure . . .
I think there might be something wrong with the site at least for me. It hadn’t shown any update since the 20th page, and finally today all the pages just showed up for me. This is the second time it’s happened. Any idea whats going on?
It never updates the main page for me either. Even if I turn the machine on and off and wipe my browser history. Even if I use a completely different browser. Even if I manually clean the cache. Even if I use different machines! I went a month of using three different machines with completely seperate browser histories, thinking that the site has not updated, before I cottoned on…
(I now have a link on my browser to the archives, which DOES change, solving my problem.)
Hmm, him. That suggests that Brendan is strictly gay, ruling out my ex-romance theory.
auth this comic does so much with pronouns it’s amazing
…and he’s not seeing anyone right now, that makes a lot of complicated things a bit simpler, plotwise.

Time has passed. Nobody cares if they are gay now. Brendan wasn’t exactly hiding in a closet anyway.

Oh, my god ! Your theory is so Hofstadter that even if it turns out to be not true it is perfect !
“off the record”? What kind of utopia are they living in?
“not seeing anyone right now”..
I think Al would be quite upset if he overheard that.
‘Til death do us part… but nobody ever thinks about what happens if they come back!

This just gave me feels.

Your browser may have emptied its cache for the first time since I updated the site. That’s happened to a few people.
Odd. Nice to know it happens to others.
