Yeouch. Just from one end of the call, it already sounds like Brendan is getting the ‘little lady’ treatment from the caller. Hope I’m just jumping to conclusions, though! He deserves better. :)
Okay maybe I was wrong before. Al seems perfectly content with giving Brendan the title of “co-founder”, so maybe a power struggle isn’t the source of the fight before Al’s death.
Brendan is stressing out. Al on the other hand has been pretty calm with just a tad of curmudgeon mixed in. What I don’t like about Brendan’s ‘style’ is that he is always putting on a show, and beginning to look and sound frantic for his efforts. The moment that edge of desperation enters your voice, your customer loses all faith in you and wants to speak with someone else.
Al is the obsessive genius who thinks up things no one’s ever thought before, and Brendan is the organizer who keeps Al on track and helps him with his personal problems (as much as Al can acknowledge them), debugs and perfects his work, manages the paperwork that lets them exist as a business, manages the business, solves any problems, AND has personal contacts and knows how to talk to people. And which one does everyone want to talk to?

Curiouser and curiouser.
Oooh, intrigue! Loving the expressions in this page, Al’s smile is very charming and endearing.
Also… did that robot arm just pluck some of Brendan’s hair?
Yes, it did lol
I wonder what that will lead to…..hmmmmmmm……
Brendan hasn’t got them a secretary/voice mail yet? Silly boy, you don’t always have to answer.
Is that a hint of foreboding in the air?
Poor Brendan, getting the “may I please talk to a grownup?” routine. Yeesh!
I feel like the person Al undoubtedly hyates is on the other side of the phone…
And may have met Brendan previously to get contact with Al.

I love how the background in the last 3 panels slowly changes with the discussion showing how it’s going from pleasant to not so great to uh oh
