I just noticed that Al’s and Sulla’s shirts are the one exception to the all-blue color palette, and then went back and re-read through from Chapter 1, Page 1. I really like how the brown in Al’s shirt ties together the future and past scenes.
It’s not all that far into the future, so I imagine plenty of people still have a taste for the excellent archival quality of paper (I’m guessing a server blade is less likely to still operate after a 1000 years of sitting in some forgotten place.) And I don’t think anyone has yet invented a pencil 2.0 that really stuck, unless you count mechanical pencils. But maybe the robots feel icky inside using one of those, kind of like we sometimes feel guilty about the food we eat?
More seriously, I’m trying to figure out what about the girl caught Sulla’s eye, and vice versa. Usually when I accidentally make eye contact with someone we both instantly look away in shame. I wonder if the girl is also a robot with the resources to look human, and has somehow managed what Sulla wants – to fit in with a group of school friends?
Dang, I think of that and get all excited about posting it and then you ninja’d me. Well played, sir.
Anyway, mystery girl must be a robot because it’s been emphasized that every single robot they pass turns to look at Al, while people mostly ignore him, and mystery girl noticed Al (and Sulla) while her friends passed right by.
But man, she must be pretty rich and/or important to look that convincing. I wonder if Sulla’s heard of her before?
Me, I just want a good shot of that coat. Hopefully she will keep stalking until I’m more satisfied with my mental pattern of it. I am really really tempted to make something similar.
Just found your comic today, and read through the whole thing. Loving it so far. : D Was a bit sad when I got to this page and the ‘next’ button didn’t work. Ha.
i’m curious: how do you feel, that almost none of us has really “given any air-time” to the olive-skinned, frizzly-haired, freckled lass who, ostensibly:
• is the “alpha” of the group, and
• may be a future . . . . . a future agonist (? is that the term i might employ?),
Naw, I don’t mind. You’ll will hear more about her, I guarantee.
I did find it interesting when people referred to the girl in the “helmet” or the “trendy hat.” Made me wonder if I was drawing it right, but I figured most Minneapolis residents would understand exactly what she’s wearing.
But will there be robots there?
It’s interesting to see that they still used paper for books
Also, honestly, is Sulla interested in the volume or something else? She’s practically following them around
I think it’s clear enough that she’s stalking Harriet Potter.
LOL
I think you mean “Brenda”? (‘Cause she looks like a female Brendan.)
this must have been a bear to draw, eh bloo?
So the robots are watching Al & Sulla, who are watching the random girls. When did this comic turn into a spy thriller again?
LOL

also the multitool and the blood at the very beginning
I notice they still use analog scripting devices, too (pencils).

EVERY TIME
IS STALKER TIME
+1 So very much.

Wait, where is this?

Same situation here. :)

Al’s frustrated/grumpy expression is adorable. Maybe it should become a fad of some sort, to give this comic some extra popularity?
I’m a new reader and a Minneapolitan – I’m loving what I’ve read of the comic so far, and recognizing some familiar buildings makes it even better!
