Poor…well both of them. I’m one of those people where I don’t like holding hands or touching in public, and when you’re with someone who really enjoys that it’s kind of stuff, no one’s happy ): At least they’re still both having fun most of the rest of the time! ^_^

I know, I’m kind of both ways – when people that I’m comfortable with, I’m very handsy – not holding hands but touching them, playing with girls hair, all kinds of stuff, but if I’m not comfortable with them I’m very much hands off, and I’m told I project a keep-away vibe.
But I have to say my feels are with B on this one – even if you know, intellectually that the other person just isn’t into PDA, it can feel like a rejection.
I also do agree that it’s nice to see them having fun aside from the handholding. I’m curious if A doesn’t want the world to know he’s gay at all, or just to know that he’s shagging his employee / intern / assistant, whatever position B technically holds.
Also, however A might feel about holding hands, he’s kept the beard! The beard he wanted to shave off till B asked him to, and if the panels are vaguely chronological, he kept it after the snatchy hand episode, so there’s that.
And it must be really late because using B and A for the two of them now has me thinking “Insert tab B into slot A.” and then giggling like a maniac.

al reallly didn’t have to act like he just put his hand in a jar of shit and vomit..
..but brendan should not have assumed al is into PDA, either.
of course that kind of reaction hurts (and al had better have done some helluva apologizing for it, later) … they really need to have a talk about why al feels so averse.
there was a reason that blue didn’t show al’s eyes during these PDA Panels.. ..i’d rather here it from the angel’s mouth herself, instead of drawing my own conclusions here.

I really like this 2-page spread for showing a lot about their ongoing relationship very succinctly.
It would be awesome if you could somehow glue those two pages together in the website somewhere, like they do on Girl Genius…
Al is determined, it appears, to avoid others knowing about his guilty pleasures. He’s a scientist, so I doubt it’s one of the many Christian stupidities, but he could well be worried it’s just a bad business decision to let the world know…
P.S. I haven’t the foggiest what PDA stands for, but can work out what it means in context….

Now that Rosie and masiac88 mention it, I can’t decide if Al’s hidden eyes would be frustrated, haunted, sad…probably all the above.
Blue, the transition between panel 3 and 4 really hit me! I tend to slowly scroll down the page so that change in emotion got me good.

obviously, i wish i didn’t have to witness such extremes of scenarios; but we humans can’t all have happy stories of rainbows and strawberry fields, since obviously that’s not how life is.
i might only hope that blue can teach us An Important Lesson, by the time she finishes her narrative.
I don’t know. Everyone say it’s that Al isn’t into PDAs, but I’m reading it more as him being in the closet and being a fair weather boyfriend.

obviously al is in the closet; but it is also possible al’s an F.W.B., as you theorize.
at any rate, blue never did specify what those two’s actual relationship is; it makes sense to assume they’ve long made a commitment to each other.. ..but, for all we know, al’s heart could still be with that woman in the poster. (alastair does appear to have a connection with two different female figures, after all.)
and brendy might be having his own fun with other nerds, back at the campus.
i guess it’s up to blue on whether or no she wants to ever Word of God some of the back-story which might not gel so well, being relayed in comic format.

I want to comment literally on every panel, but the second-to-last is probly my favourite. Al happily being a wall-flower, Brendan exercising his CEO potential, hehehe

I’m just sad realizing that, well, Al’s beard is shaved into a ‘stache when he’s resurrected ):
But Brendan being an adorable science geek and fanboy at the expo took away the sharp pain in my heart from the middle panels. I mean, I expected him to pull away in the last page but when it didn’t happen I thought I dodged an emotional bullet, but it turned out just as I expected.
First 3 panels – Yay!
Middle 2 panels – Ouch ouch ouch!
Last 2 panels – D’aaawwww…
I don’t know whether to go more on what’s implied in the middle panels or to take them more literally. I think with the two-page emphasis I’m going to go for the former. It seems to me to be deliberately revealing underlying insecurities and setting us up for what comes later because they’re definitely not all lovey-dovey in the future and isn’t Al alone when he gets killed?
Even as a straight woman, I enjoy this comic very much.
