Panel three = total heartbreak. Sooooooo cute.
And it’s interesitng how Brendan’s glasses are pretty much a part of himself. Little ownde,r he’s had them for so many years…
You want heartbreak, check the last three panels. A lot of people might not get what’s going on there. Al is seeing his own wish-fulfillment fantasy played out in front of hm.
I can’t tell if Al’s very meaningful look to that painting in the last two panels is simply a realization that Brendan kept it after all these years or something more. Because the way Al looks at it at the very beginning of the comic plus with what we found out recently, and the timing of seeing that picture again so soon after meeting Sulla…
I don’t even know anymore. There’s so much to potentially unpack in the beginning here haha. It’s such a dense story! I love it.

Is that a plant in her lamp?
The star lady! The one we say when Al died. She’s in the last panel. Wonder who she is?
She looks like the “Blue Fairy” from Pinocchio…
I wonder how familiar young-female-Al’s room is to old-male-Al.

Listening to Nujabes’ Soul Searching while reading this, really fits.

Something of hers, and something of yours
