It is not exactly clear how long they have been working together, maybe it is still that first day – either way, Al is obviously not too outgoing in any sense of way, he’s already opened up plenty in comparison to the beginning of the lunch “session”.
Just noticed, I’ve been talking to comic characters for a few pages now. Guess this means this comic got me believing into AI too, of sorts at least.
Also, can’t help be heartbroken at Brendan’s character development over time. Now, int he present, he and Al are more and less of the same age, and if anything he’s even more grumbly and shut off than Al was at that age. Off off off, no you can’t go anywhere no we’re not going to talk about it etc. etc. Comparing to all this wide-eyed let’s-change-the-world-together enthusiasm that just seems so so sad. Brendan needs some sunshine!!
… I just feel so sad for them, especially Brendan. He used to be so enthusiastic, with the belief that he could change the world; but now that he had actually done it, he’s reluctant to open up to people and only trusts a select few (and robo!Al doesn’t seem to be on the short list right now.)
