I’m taking next Monday’s update off, but with luck I’ll be able to update later that week. Thanks for understanding. We’re almost at the end of this chapter!

I feel like Al might leave with him.
I hope not ;_;
Ballet girl was upset! Hope to see her soon… and Brendan’s little resigned smile just kills me.
Just a small point here that’s easy to miss, Blue’s lettering is beautifully expressive and really sets up the emotional content of the panels.
Oh yeah i really get the emotionally charged event aftermath vibe here
Oh, the one who doesn’t concern themself with people’s feelings came alone. This can only end well.
Was Al expecting them?
Hope Anubis here employs something resembling tact this time, because hoo boy did they mess things up last time.
Hm…Does the anubis analog only visit with Al when it’s snowing?
or do they bring the snow?
Sooooo, do either of you live in Minnesota?
Tsade (I’m just assuming that’s them at this point) was deeply insensitive to Al in the woods. Given everything we know now, those comments were especially hurtful, whether Tsade intended it or not.
This is the thing about Tsade. Bully for them on being the first AI to emancipate themselves, but all the interactions characters have with Tsade gives me the impression of someone who is deeply insensitive. They’re a machine – through and through – and they embrace that identity.
Everyone else, humans and AI (and including Tsade’s assistant, clearly), are fragile people with emotions and boundaries that require respect.
I hope the next few pages give us some idea of what exactly Tsade wants, and what they’ve been up to. So far, Tsade has mostly been the Deus Ex Machina (pun intended, and maybe that’s why Blue made them look like Anubis) that brings back Al.
Unless a big twist happens, I expect Annubis is Tsade. That leaves me to wonder who the Ballerina is? Her text looked very human/organic (the only non-synth who has that is Sulla) so it makes me think she actually *is* possibly a human or cyborg versus another being who has a computer/synth brain.
In order to manufacture Al, they’d have to be able to make good voices. Whoever made Al probably made Ballerina first
It’s really interesting that the friendly, Brendan-raised Sulla is too talkative and inquisitive for Tsade, but Al’s brusqueness suits Tsade fine.
I’d been assuming that Ballerina was either a copy of Tsade or an early experiment of theirs, but she(?) is about ten million times as sensitive, which suggests otherwise. Fascinating.
I think the Ballerina and Tsade/Anubis might both be imprints taken from the original Al, they are basically forks in his psyche, with one being his unemotional logical stoical self which appears more masculine (and similar to how Al presents himself), and the other his hidden more emotional intuitive and graceful side which appears more feminine…I do wonder what Sulla would think of the Ballerina… a sister perhaps?
