I don’t imagine most fans are looking to “lighten the mood” of the last several panes with genital drawings, but if you need that as a coping mechanism, I’m glad it works for you.
Oh, Brendan. It’s easy to see how Sulla would have been a considerable comfort.
Still trying to work out where the complete Al copy came from, since all this happened so quickly. The front door was ajar for hours as Al lay on the bed unconscious; did someone get in? But if there’d been an emulator missing, Brendan would have noticed, surely…
Most likely that full copy was made before that or maybe there is something that justified the post-uncounscious state or even post-death recovery of the data. Doubt we’re supposed to now at this stage, I still bet on the military hot dude that had a clear man-crush on our hero.
I suspect that the full copy was somehow pieced together from several partial copies, including the one Brendan took in the ICU. There were partial scans of Al even in some of the robot brains they created, as evidenced by that one construction robot that went berserk when it saw Al.
I don’t think that Brendan or Al knew how to merge partial scans together, but I bet the robots figured it out, gradually, over many years.
As Ram Dass (Dr. Richard Alpert) reminded us in [DyingToKnowMovie.com] about his friendship and companionship in Timothy Leary’s last days, “Dying Is Absolutely Safe.” It’s a little rough on those who don’t get to go along, but it’s OK for the traveler.
(dry sobbing)
:(
That black center panel says nothing, yet removes all ambiguity.
Good job handing this, Blue. Oof, I am numb to the tragedy now.
Was just thinking the same.
That was so fast. So final for Brendan. First the fight, then seeing Al’s state, the diagnosis, the failed brain scan/copy, now this.
His suffering and pain must’ve lasted years after all of this.
Brendan and Gimel make heartwrenching bookends here.
Your best work yet, Blue.
Perfect.
Tried to make this emotional but those SFX reminded me too much of that thing Patrick did in Spongebob : X.
Gods, the blood stains. Now he’s going to have to clean that up. Tidy up the mess Al made before leaving. Or ask someone to do it.
Gods.
Just to lighten the mood, imagine if the note taped to the pillow had a drawing of dickbutt on it

The broken robot. Blue, you monster.
I let this comic slip for months, and just now thought, hey, I wanna catch up on OHS! I love that comic!
Now I am oouuucchhh. *huddling in a blanket in August to try and cope*

Agree that we’re not supposed to be able to work it out yet, but the temptation to wonder is irresistible! Heh!
