I’d been assuming that Ballerina was either a copy of Tsade or an early experiment of theirs, but she(?) is about ten million times as sensitive, which suggests otherwise. Fascinating.

That leaves me to wonder who the Ballerina is? Her text looked very human/organic (the only non-synth who has that is Sulla) so it makes me think she actually *is* possibly a human or cyborg versus another being who has a computer/synth brain.

Given everything we know now, those comments were especially hurtful, whether Tsade intended it or not.

This is the thing about Tsade. Bully for them on being the first AI to emancipate themselves, but all the interactions characters have with Tsade gives me the impression of someone who is deeply insensitive. They’re a machine – through and through – and they embrace that identity.

Everyone else, humans and AI (and including Tsade’s assistant, clearly), are fragile people with emotions and boundaries that require respect.

I hope the next few pages give us some idea of what exactly Tsade wants, and what they’ve been up to. So far, Tsade has mostly been the Deus Ex Machina (pun intended, and maybe that’s why Blue made them look like Anubis) that brings back Al.

Was Al expecting them?
