Page 35. At least Al knows how to make a conversation about the subject.
This is the first page drawn entirely on my new desktop setup. Think it turned out pretty good! And thanks for your patience as I recovered from two cons and set up my new computer.
Brendan being ignored :(
AH!!!! BRENDAN’S FACE IN THE LAST PANEL!!!!! AWWWW!!!!!!
Hey. Al got left out, so now its Brendan’s turn.
I know that looks kind of horrible about Brendam being ignored like that, but you know, I think he’s not acting as much professional as he should be in this meeting. He’s talking too “not polite” and too personal. And Al knows it, but his way of talking is way more professional and “it fits better” with this meeting. (my english is horrible, sorry)
But also I think it’s the age talkin louder in this page. I read “Koko” a few years ago and it had this couple who had 10 years of difference between their ages, and the man always got sad because he knew how young he was and yet he saw his girlfriend’s friends and habits like as if it was from another world, some maturity level he tried hard to understand and get into.
The point is in this page we see better the difference of age between Al and Brendam and that’s one of the main problems between them in their social life.
You have a point. Brendan has a down-to-earth charm that wins him friends easily, but Al has the no-nonsense attitude that makes him easier for professionals to identify with. Lets not forget the people they are meeting here are not their friends, just professional acquaintances at the moment. Not gonna impress them with boyish charm.

IMHO Brendan’s twinge of jealousy is completely on-target. Doc is not only not hostile but probably not straight. However, he is still making the mistake of thinking Brendan is only the boyfriend, not the co-inventor and driving force. Give it an hour and get Brendan talking enthusiastically and Al may be the jealous one.
Unlikely. The doctor picked Al for his own reasons and I bet one of them is how young Brendan is. Not that Brendan is a spring chicken but Al and the doctor are both mature gentlemen. That prolly counts for something with the doctor. However I do believe if the doctor downplayed Brendan’s involvement I think Al would set him straight. We will just have to see how this conversation plays out.
It’s so interesting that Brendan is neglected as the “young apprentice” and is largely left out of the conversations with the “brain” behind the operation.
I think Al is focused on the scent of a new trail to the point of being blind to aught else. I don’t think Al is deliberately ignoring Brendan, just so curious about this military man and what is causing him to back them that he isn’t noticing anything else. Can’t say the same about the doctor though, he obviously does have an issue with someone as young as Brendan being in charge. After all he made sure Al was gonna be the one seen as the public face.
I think we just found out last page that Al and Dr Commissioned Officer have been previously acquainted – and as soon as Brendan came over Al changed the subject, or at least, didn’t continue that line of conversation.
Dont like the Doctor’s attitude towards Brendan at all. So dismissive, almost to the point of being rude.
The mystery of how Dr. Commissioned-Officer knows Al is still… er… a mystery. Dyin’ to know what sort of backstory is going on there!
