Still, I’d be kinda peeved if I got a whole new body just like the one I’d always had. Come on, super science, you couldn’t throw in a laser hand? Take off some love handles?;)
Hehehehe, yeah, while they’re at it, could “upgrade” so many things… I’d like the ability to change my eyecolour at will, for instance. Not particularly practical, but fun. Even Sulla got to fly, somehow, but Al…? Well, he does seem more temperature-resistant, but ohter than that. Maybe somehting will come up later.
Decided to re-read this to procrastinate, and just realizing Al is noticing he doesn’t have the beard, Al told him to grow and he’s distressed about it!
That pause before “took ill” is a little concerning. Especially considering that flipped table and the note on the bed. Just what isn’t Al being told [or aren’t we being told?] … ?
The best non-conspiracy theory I can think of at the moment is: Brendan and Al had a fight (leading to the flipped table and the note on the bed); they both went out separately to cool off when Al’s — ahem, “illness” — caught up with him; Al staggered home to find Brendan still out, and collapsed on the bed as we saw. But who likes non-conspiracy theories? That still doesn’t explain why he’s been brought back, or how, or by whom.
But if that’s the case, Brendan likely blames himself for Al’s death [if he’d been home, if Al had gotten medical attention more quickly…]. Oh dear …
If I woke up and was told that I was a replication of myself after I had died, I would immediately ask if anyone found my body. If the answer is no, then I would sleep with a loaded handgun on my bedside table and a sword under my pillow for the rest of my life.
‘Cause the original is still out there, and I know how I treat duplicates of myself…
Wow, this comic is moving fast- and I love it!

I guess they were trying not to disorient him too much at first. But he better get to fly eventually.

He took learning that he was dead from a dog pretty welll.

No vomiting, no illness, no blood… Edited memories, maybe? Hmmmm…
g o d not actually all that familiar since he only had the mustache for mmm a couple of hours
and it also sort of was what sparked their entire fight. i mean, it wasn’t about that, really, but.
yikes.
his expression in that last panel about his so called familiar body, with the revelations in chapter 7? hmmm
I’d be a bit disturbed about things being too familiar.
mmmmmmmmmm
oh god doing a reread. That subtle expression and meaning in that last panel. I can’t
Rereading this from the present day… “reassuringly familiar” sits different.
